Healthy People 2030 – Goals for the Next Decade
On August 18, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) unveiled the latest iteration of Healthy People.
Healthy People 2030 is a set of science-based, 10-year national objectives for improving health and well-being in the United States. On the newly launched Healthy People 2030 website, you can see the new objectives and leading health indicators for the decade.
The Healthy People program was first launched in 1979, developing new objectives every decade. Healthy People 2030 represents a substantial revision, going from 1,300 separate objectives to 355 core objectives to avoid overlap, to prioritize the most pressing public health issues, and to make it more manageable for those who need to find the objectives relevant to their work. The current objectives, which represent continued as well as new objectives, were proposed by 42 workgroups.
