Congratulations to the 2016 Health Hero Award Winners

 The Healthy Lombard Foundation would like to congratulate the winners of their 2016 Health Hero Awards. In the first category, that honors individuals who have made a noticeable effort to improve their health and wellness during the past year, the winners are Lombard residents Dave Frank, Mike Janssen, Bonnie Kramer and Janience Lewitke.

Health Heroes receives their awards at the 2016 Healthy Lombard Fitness February Fair that was held at the Yorktown Center Mall On February 27, 2016.Ben Tipton from Ironclad Performance, that sponsored the awards and Supernova, the mascot of the Red Stars Women’s Soccer Team joined Healthy Lombard Foundation to presented the winners with their awards.

Here is a synopsis of why these individuals and groups were selected:

Dave Frank – nominated by Michelle Bell, Victoria DiPego, and Beth Mamolella

Dave Frank is a dedicated father, husband, and friend to many. This past year he has taken on a new job and set a plan to get healthier that included charting his weight loss progress on Facebook. Through these lifestyle changes and his time at Sky Centers, Dave has lost 60 pounds and is continuing on a great, healthy path! 
Through his example and motivation, he encourages many to step out of their comfort zones and participate in a healthier life as well. In addition, Dave is an inspiration to everyone at Sky Centers especially the young children he mentors and helps teach martial arts too. He always has a smile on his face and something pleasant to talk about.

We are looking forward to this event and invite EVERYONE who may  be in the Lombard Area on February 27th to drop by, and have fun.

Fitness Fair Has A New Location 

DSCN1270The Healthy Lombard Foundation invites all members of the greater Lombard community to attend The Sixth Annual Fitness February Fair from 10 AM – 1:30 PM, at the Yorktown Center Mall, Lombard, IL.  This year the Fair will be located in the Lower Level Area of the mall near Home Goods and Marshall’s.  The most convenient doorway to use to attend the Fair is the Mall Entrance by Forever 21 (near the Streets of Butterfield).

The Fitness February Fair will features health-related displays, free health screenings, the opportunity to participate in interactive presentations and a raffle.  Visitors may pick up a sticker sheet at any of the exhibit tables.  The sheet  contains 16 spaces. As they visit any of the 36 exhibits they will receive one sticker for their sheet. When they have collected 16 of the possible 36 stickers, they can enter their name into the raffle for prizes.

The Fair will also feature stage performances. Demonstrations will range from fast passed exercise workouts by ESSENTRICS of Lombard to martial arts moves by Sky Center students, to a Yoga demonstration by Glenbard High School students. There will also be jump rope and  hula-hoop competitions for kids.

At 1PM, Healthy Lombard, with the assistance of Supernova, the Red Stars Women’s Soccer Team Mascot, will present Health Hero Awards to four individuals who have made healthy lifestyle changes in 2015 and to two business who have actively supported the mission of the Healthy Lombard Foundation.

Crunch An Apple Today And Send Us your Selfie! 

AppleCrunch_Marshall_MS_Student1sThe Healthy Lombard Foundation invites everyone, but especially kids, to join students across the Great Lakes Region states of Minnesota, Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan and Ohio, in celebrating National Farm to School Month and Food Day by crunching into locally and regionally grown apples at NOON on Thursday, October 22, 2015 (EST and CST).

“Of course, not everyone can Crunch at Noon on Food Day,” said Healthy Lombard Founder Jay Wojcik. “So Healthy Lombard suggests you show your support by crunching down anytime today and taking a ‘Healthy Selfie.’ ” You can either send the photo to [email protected] to have it posted on the Healthy Lombard website, that has over 1 Million hits, or post it on their Facebook Page at www.facebook.com/healthylombard

Need an apple to crunch? The Lombard Jewel/ Osco located at Roosevelt and Main has agreed to provide Apple Coupons on October 22 to show it support.

Fitness Challenge

Healthy Lombard is participating in this cohesive effort to promote involvement in crime prevention activities, police-community partnerships, neighborhood camaraderie and send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.

Healthy Lombard will be hosting

Twin Fitness Challenge at

Lombard Park District’s  Paradise Bay Water Park.

Kids can participate anytime between 5 – 8 PM.

Come Zumba with Lisa Tomorrow at 12:30 PM 

Lisa McDaniel from Zumba with Lisa will host a FREE Zumba experience at the Healthy Lombard Fitness February Fair on Saturday, February 28, 2015 at the Yorktown Center in LOmbard.  Come join in at 12:30 PM in the center court of the Mall.

Stage performances are being sponsored by Elite Training and the major sponsors for the Fair include Adventist Health Partners, Balance Weight Centers, and the Elmhurst Memorial Medical Group.
