Survey On Mental Health Care
The University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences (USAHS) surveyed 1,000 Americans in September, and found that only 21% of respondents reported feeling comfortable receiving virtual therapy or counseling.
Given that we are in the middle of a global pandemic, this figure is concerning. Many providers have opted to take their practice virtual as it’s safer during this time. Furthermore, a CDC survey from late June found that U.S. adults reported much higher adverse mental health conditions associated with COVID-19.
In order to ensure Americans are receiving the mental healthcare they need, it’s critical to improve the perception of virtual therapy. Helping people understand both the logistics and benefits of seeing a therapist virtually could help them feel more comfortable.
The organization polled 1,000 respondents.
