Survey Reveals Millennials’ Relationship with Health Care

Nearly half of millennials admit to putting off a health issue, according to a new survey on millennial health care.

Reluctance to see a physician may stem from cost. We surveyed 2,000 millennials and found that 6 in 10 prefer high-deductible insurance plans with lower monthly premiums. And 65% say they’re not saving for medical emergencies. Other study highlights include:

  • 42% aren’t getting physicals because they “feel healthy”
  • 1 in 3 hasn’t had a physical in the past year
  • 55% have put off a health issue for more than six months

Harmony Healthcare IT shared that from hot yoga to juicing, it’s no secret that millennials love wellness. In fact, the generation has often been referred to as the “wellness generation.” And while staying in shape is a crucial component to overall health, there are still many other key factors to maintaining health such as annual physicals and getting medical advice from a professional.

But how often are millennials getting a check-up and how many actually have a primary care physician? As a health data management firm interested in the state of millennial health, we surveyed more than 2,000 millennials between the ages of 23 and 38.
