I was contacted by a person name Virgil (I am omitting his last name). He said he came across the Healthy Lombard website and thought the foundation might be interested in his message.
Virgil was recently diagnosed with mesothelioma, which is a cancer caused by exposure to asbestos. From automotive to demolition work, he had many jobs in his life that contributed to his exposure. On some jobs, the air was so thick with debris and asbestos he could taste it in his mouth.
When Virgil was diagnosed with mesothelioma he needed immediate medical attention. He found a few websites on the internet that are supposed to help people with his type of cancer but nobody got back to him.
Then he found Mesothelioma.net. Even though he contacted them on a Sunday one of their patient advocates gave him a call back within minutes. They gave Virgil a great deal of helpful information on doctors and available resources.
As a result of their website Virgil is now being treated at the National Cancer Institute and the patient advocates have even provided him with financial assistance so he could afford a place to live during his cancer treatments.

If he had not reached out to this website Virgil says that he would likely be homeless and more importantly in hospice waiting to die. He truly fells that hese people gave him my only chance at survival.
Virgil noted that he saw a cancer-related link on the Healthy Lombard website. He suggested that perhaps some of our website visitors could use the help of Mesothelioma.net since the website is filled with information on mesothelioma treatments and doctors, asbestos trust funds for victims, and a lot more. They also sponsor The American Cancer Society, the MD Cancer Center, and the Make a Wish Foundation.
A second person, Katherine Keys, shared that she has been fighting mesothelioma cancer for the past 10 years.
Lately, Katherine writes, she keeps hearing about the benefits that a nutritious diet can have for cancer patients. Foods that can be easily found by going to your local grocery or farmer’s market, offer not only the essential vitamins needed in a daily diet, but also the ability to battle against all kinds of cancers.
In her fight against cancer, she stated that she has been helped greatly by the Patient Advocates at Mesothelioma Lawyer Center. Not only did they help her obtain financial compensation which helped with her treatments and quality of life, she says they genuinely care about her well-being.
Katherine asked me to share with others the fact that this group has posted an article that mentions the benefits of nutrition for cancer patients because she felt it is her duty to give back to the community-to inform people with asbestos diseases the benefits of nutrition when battling cancer.

Brian Basham, Director of Outreach at MesotheliomaVeterans.org contacted Healthy Lombard because he is part of the Community Outreach team at Mesothelioma Veterans Center. One-third of all mesothelioma patients are veterans, and approximately 6,000 veterans afflicted with this asbestos-caused cancer died between 1999 and 2005 alone. The reason this cancer targets so many veterans is because of the prevalence of asbestos use in the military in the past. Part of their mission is to spread awareness to veterans and their families.
Their website offers free health specific resources and support for patients and families.
“If you or someone you know is diagnosed with mesothelioma or knows any veterans who might have mesothelioma symptoms, contact the Mesothelioma Veterans Center as soon as you can!”

The Mesothelioma Guide is an advocacy organization dedicated to helping patients diagnosed with asbestos illnesses. The mesothelium is a thin membrane that protects and lubricates several important organs and body cavities. When people are exposed to asbestos, the sharp fibers can become lodged in the mesothelium and eventually cause cells to become cancerous. Mesothelioma cancer occurs in a protective lining called the mesothelium.
