Fueling Breakfast Ideas

We have all heard that breakfast is the most important meal of the day, and clichés must exist for a reason! Breakfast, or whenever you have the first meal of the day, sets the tone for the rest of the day. Having a sugary bowl of cereal can lead to further sugar cravings later in the afternoon, for example. However, if your first meal includes a variety of nutrients, such as protein, whole grains, fruit, and healthy fats, then you will be satiated and more likely to continue eating healthfully throughout the day! Here are a few fueling breakfast ideas to start the day on the right foot.

Smoothies
Smoothies are a great meal to have on the go and can be tailored to fit your preferences! One of my favorite smoothies to make is blending about 6 frozen mango cubes, a banana, a handful of spinach, a serving of vanilla protein powder, 1 T. almond butter, 1 T. chia seeds, and a little water! This offers so many nutrients and keeps me full until lunchtime!

Chia Seed Pudding
Chia seeds offer plenty of fiber, healthy fats, and antioxidants. Stir 2 T. chia seeds with ½ c. milk of choice in a jar. Add a sprinkle of cinnamon, vanilla extract, or a drizzle of honey to sweeten it up! Put a lid on the jar and place it in the fridge overnight. In the morning, add your favorite fruit to go on top.

Avocado Egg Toast
This is one of my favorites! Toasting a piece or two of Ezekiel bread, adding smashed avocado, slicing a hard-boiled egg to go on top, a sprinkle of Trader Joe’s “Everything But The Bagel” seasoning, and a squeeze of fresh lemon juice makes this a delectable breakfast.

Greek Yogurt Parfait
This is a great option if you do not get too hungry in the mornings, but still want to be fueled for the rest of the day! Greek yogurt offers an abundance of protein, and adding low-sugar, high-protein granola will further add to your fullness! Lastly, top it off with raspberries, blueberries, strawberries, and pomegranate seeds!

Breakfast Sandwich
Constructing breakfast sandwiches in different ways can keep breakfasts interesting and delicious! First, choose your bread, such as Ezekiel bread, whole wheat bread, or a whole-grain English muffin. Next, add a slice of tomato and greens. After that, choose your protein, such as 6 oz. salmon, an egg, or whatever else you like! Lastly, add some pepper, and a drizzle of olive oil, and enjoy!

I hope this provided some delicious and nutritious ideas for what to have for breakfast this week!
