The Healthy Lombard Foundation just received notification that its SHIP (State Health Improvement Program) Video grant application has been selected for funding by the Illinois Department of Public Health. Through this grant, Healthy Lombard is looking to introduce healthy living concepts as part of the workplace. Healthy Lombard follows a Triple A Approach (Awareness, Activities, Achievement) to address the epidemic of childhood obesity and promote healthy living and focus its efforts on both children and adults because, without good adult role models, children are not very likely to acquire healthy eating and exercise habits.
“The SHIP Grant will help us interact with more adults because we will be able to reach them at the locations where they spend the majority of their day, the work place. Our goal is for the healthy living model to be developed in the work environment to be transferred to the home environment. “A bonus to the workplace will be that healthy employees mean more productivity and fewer sick days,” said Healthy Lombard Founder and Foundation President Jay Wojcik.
The Healthy Lombard video and the other contest entries represent a key part of the Illinois Department of Public Health’s outreach strategies to inform and engage Illinois Citizens about health improvement in our state.
