Christina Farr shared that Fast Company is offering a new App to help doctors broach the issue of weight management with patients. It seems like a great tool to support the TAKE 5 Challenge.
The Take 5 Challenge is meant to inspire DOCTORS to have a productive conversation about obesity in ways that will support patients and change practice.
Sadly, a recent survey found that more than 1/3 of those with obesity have not spoken with a physician or health professional about their weight. Also, due to lack of training and education, many HCPs aren’t bringing up the topic either.
Initiatives such as “Take 5” are sparking change around the obesity dialogue in the doctor’s office for the betterment of the patient.
The App was created because in the United States, more than 12 million children and adolescents are obese. But few medical schools across the country are teaching would-be doctors how to broach the issue of weight management with patients and their families, leaving them unprepared.
That’s where simulation-technology comes in. Change Talk 2.0, a role-playing game developed by the app maker Kognito and , is intended to help doctors practice having these sensitive conversations.
